Did we miss one of your favorites?

Let us know in the comments section below, we’ll be sure to check it out and add it to our list if it makes the cut!

*Please note at the time of writing this blog (September 2020), the world is still in the midst of a pandemic. All of the beach clubs listed here have each taken preventative action to enhance their already strict health and safety protocols to help keep you safe. You will see serving staff wearing face masks and regular sanitizing of menus, tables, and chairs across Playa del Carmen’s large range of bars, restaurants, and beach clubs.

1. Inti Beach

Inti Beach is the ying to the yang of other Playa del Carmen beach clubs.

While all others generally tend to present a festive vibe and loud music to draw in the crowds, this holistic center/beach club goes introspective, offering up a true tropical chill.

inti beach delicious meal

It’s a great place to sit back, relax, enjoys some quality food and drinks, and why not, meditate to the sounds of the waves slowly crashing against the shore.

They also offer yoga classes, massages, and morning SUP lessons.

What’s not to love?

It can be a little on the pricey side if you are ballin’ on a budget but trust me, it’s worth it.

Open: Mon.-Sun., 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Music style: Mantras and world music

Live music: Special events

Address: Beach between 4th & 6th Streets

Cost: Minimum consumption is between $300 & $500 pesos per person depending on the season

2.  Mamitas Beach Club

A legendary Playa del Carmen beach club whose name is closely associated with the destination itself.

DJ at Mamitas Beach Club Playa del Carmen

Mamitas Beach Club is generally packed almost any day of the week, especially in high season.

It’s located on the main beach in Playa del Carmen close to hotels such as The Hilton Playa del Carmen and Panama Jacks.

It’s definitely a party atmosphere, especially when they host live events.

Most of the time that tends to be electronic music.

The food is good, the beach is great, and the atmosphere is lively. Party on.

I highly recommend the ceviche and guac. Que rico!

Although I will say service isn’t all that great here in my experience but if you’re not too fussed about that you should have a good time.

Open: Mon.-Sun., 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Music style: Mostly electronic

Live music: Special events

Address: 28th Street and Beach

Cost: $500 peso minimum comes with two loungers and $300 pesos in credit

3.  Señor Frogs

This iconic family restaurant is one of the most well-positioned brands in the Mexican Caribbean.

person preparing the mic for live music at Señor Frogs in Playa del Carmen

They have achieved such a lofty goal by consistently branding their restaurants and marketing their souvenirs.

In fact, alongside the Mexican sombrero the Señor Frogs t-shirts and oversized plastic beer glasses called “The Yard” may be some of the most solicited souvenirs of all time.

Add to that some quality American-style food, a nice beach club, a party-like atmosphere, some green and/or red in the face Americans, and you’ve got the recipe to success that is Señor Frogs.

Open: Mon.-Sun., 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 a.m.

Music style: Rock

Live music: Daily

Address: Ferry terminal to Cozumel (UPDATE: there’s now even a Senor Frog on the heart of 5th Avenue, you can’t miss it, but it’s not beachfront)!

Cost: No minimum consumption; the average price for two people approx. 600-700 pesos for two meals, 2 beers, and 2 cocktails

4.  Coralina Daylight Club

Coralina Daylight Club is located at the Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen but is an independent beach club offering up the tropical vibes for a younger crowd.

Girl climbing a pole at Coralina beach club part

They boast a large pool area overlooking the beach, so you’ll be able to enjoy the best of both worlds here.

This is a great location for the club scene to recover after an all-nighter of tropical revelry.

It also attracts the good looking sort – so there’s that.

Definitely on the pricier side of beach clubs in the area.

Open: Mon.-Sun., 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Music style: Electronic

Live music: Only DJs

Address: 26th Street and Beach

Cost: Minimum consumption starts at $500 for basic access and goes way up from there; Playa’s most expensive beach club

5. Zenzi Beach Bar

An icon of the Playa del Carmen nightlife scene and a great place to enjoy a stylish atmosphere overlooking the Caribbean Sea, Zenzi Beach Bar offers live music every day of the week.

Guests listen to live music at Zenzi Beach Bar in Playa del Carmen

With an array of different styles, they pretty much have something for all musical taste buds. And speaking of taste buds, the food’s pretty tasty, too!

There are 2 bands every night, the first at 5:00 p.m. and the second at 9:00 p.m. Here’s their schedule:

  • Mondays: Rock / Salsa (free salsa lessons)
  • Tuesdays: 60’s & 70’s
  • Wednesdays: Reggae
  • Thursday: Rock / Salsa (free salsa lessons)
  • Fridays: Rock / Blues / Soul
  • Saturdays: Rock / Salsa (free salsa lessons)
  • Sundays: 80’s & 90’s / BrazilianOpen: Mon.-Sun., 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 a.m.

Music Style: Diverse

Live music: Daily

Address: Calle 10 Norte and Beach

Cost: No minimum consumption; the average price for two people approx. 600-700 pesos for two meals, 2 beers, and 2 cocktails

6. Coronel Records

Coronel Records (previously Coco Maya) has a privileged beachfront property right off 12th street and serves up an eclectic mix of food and music.

A live DJ set at Coco Maya Beach in Playa del Carmen

With Mayan-inspired architecture, a spacious venue for larger concerts, a different genre each night, and frequent special events, Coronel Records Playa is a great place to kick off the sandals and sway to the groove.

Popular at New Years’ Eve, Halloween, and other major yearly events.

Things can get pretty crazy up in here so if you like to party, then maybe this is the place for you.

Note: Due to erosion, Coronel Records is currently a beach club sans beach.

Open: Mon.-Sun., 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m.

Music style: Diverse

Live music: Special events

Address: 12th Street and 1st Avenue

Cost: No minimum consumption; the average price for two people approx. 500-600 pesos for two meals, 2 beers, and 2 cocktails

7. Martina Beach Club

A new beach club has come to the white sand oasis of Playa del Carmen.

People relaxing at Martina beach club

Known as Martina Beach Club, this club is trying to compete against the more established places such as Diablito Cha Cha Cha and Mamita’s.

Reviews haven’t been too friendly to this place, and it does offer more of the same in terms of music and ambiance than all the others.

However, I did visit in an evening recently and really enjoy the sand between my toes as I danced the night away.

My advice? Forget the reviews and try this place for yourself because I really enjoyed it. Albeit it is on the pricey side.

Open: Mon.-Sun., 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Music style: Electronic

Live music: Only DJs

Address: 44th Street and Beach

Cost: Did not respond to our requests

8.  Lido Beach Bar & Restaurant

What Lido Beach Club lacks in size it makes up for in ambiance and vibe.

The food is great, the drinks are good and you get  A LOT of bang for your buck.

This place is up there in my personal favorites.

Drink on table at Lido Beach Bar & Restaurant

This small little beach club is a cool place to grab a drink or a bite to eat while at the beach without having to break the bank or be overwhelmed by the monotone sounds of electronic music.

Nice people, good food, cold drinks, and some spectacular views.

What more would you want from a beach club?

Open: Mon.-Sun., 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Music style: Whatever is being played

Live music: Occasional DJs

Address: 10th Street and Beach

Cost: No minimum consumption; the average price for two people approx. 500-600 pesos for two meals, 2 beers, and 2 cocktails!

9.  Indigo Beach Club

Indigo Beach Club at the beautiful El Taj cond hotel is a nice, all-ages beach club located in the heart of downtown Playa del Carmen.

Peace of sushi on plate at indigo beach club

This is a great spot to sit back, relax, and take in the cool Caribbean breeze while sipping on some delicious cocktails.

Unfortunately, beach erosion has seriously affected this area of Playa.

As a result, there is increasingly less beach and more club to this otherwise great spot for some good food and drinks overlooking the Caribbean Sea.

Open: Mon.-Sun., 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. (loungers only available to outside guests as of 11:00 a.m.)

Music style: Whatever’s being played

Live music: No

Address: 14th Street and Beach

Cost: $200 pesos per person for use of loungers to be used as credit; the average price for two people approx. 600-700 pesos for two meals, 2 beers, and 2 cocktails

10. Kool Beach Club

Kool Beach Club is located just to the south of Mamita’s Beach Club.

People walking at kool beach club

Think of it as the Hatfield and McCoy’s of Playa del Carmen beach clubs.

And much like the two bitterly rival families, there’s really not a big difference between the two in terms of view or music.

Mamita’s does win out in regards to space, music, and events. Otherwise, Kool Beach Club is a good option if Mamita’s is too full.

Open: Mon.-Sun., 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Music style: Mostly electronic

Live music: Special events

Address: 28th Street and Beach

Cost: $500 pesos minimum consumption; average price for two people approx. 600-700 pesos for two meals, 2 beers, and 2 cocktails

Note: At the time of this writing, seasonal and environmental factors have dealt a blow to certain stretches of beaches in Playa del Carmen. Some beach clubs are more affected than others. Erosion is particularly bad at the moment from about 6th Street down to Constituyentes.

Too bad there isn’t a more European style club with sophisticated music and style. Martina is just an awful abomination – beach is lousy. Drinks are expensive,?Music repetitive and loud – can be heard all the way to the stadium a mile a way (or rather felt). Amazing these guys are still in business – routinely open until midnight. Given the value of real estate in the immediate neighborhood, I’m surprised. They must be paying off someone.

      Hi Nathan,

Thanks for commenting on our article. It’s important to remember that Playa del Carmen is a relatively young city that is growing faster than any other Latin American city. As such, time will likely correct both of your concerns. In the meantime, we’re thankful that our beautiful town has a lot more to offer both in terms of nightlife and activities in general.

I’ve looked at many YouTube and online pieces about Playa Del Carmen Beach Clubs. You are the FIRST to mention a price! For Inti you wrote “$500.00 pesos per person including food and drinks”. Are you saying for $500 pesos you get the use of the club, food and liquor? Also, do you have a phone number there are a number of questions I’d like to ask you before I leave for Cancun? I’ll be in Cancun May 3 – 10 but I plan to drive down to Playa several times during my stay.

      Hi Andrew,

Sorry for the delay but I was away all weekend at an event on Cozumel Island.

Please excuse the lack of clarity in my wording. I will rewrite it to avoid confusion.

Inti Beach has a minimum consumption per person that varies according to season. Currently, the price is $400 MXN. Of course, that does not include food and drink but does include the use of the beach beds or loungers and even showers.

      Their phone number is 984.803.1109.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything else!

Hi! I’m a new permanent resident of Playacar.. unfortunately I haven’t been able to find a beach club that offers a daily membership for a year. Do u know of any? Currently I’m have a card to use the reef facilities . However, even if I want to purchase a cup of water I must purchase a day pass- no memberships .. so any suggestions would. Be great!

      Hi Deb,
Bienvenida! The only beach club in Playacar is at the Reef with the membership card. There are no yearly memberships to beach clubs that I am aware of.

    Hi Sarah,
Would you Please let me know if outside guests can use beach clubs ? I mean we would book one of the hotels close by 5th Ave in Plays but would like to go to the beach . So can we go the beach on our own or there is no access to the beach and we need to go thru beach clubs and pay 500 pesos per person for a chair / lounger ?

    Thank you,
    Joanna

      Thanks for getting in touch.

Beach chairs are between 100 and 500 pesos, depending on the beach club. You can also just sit on the beach, and bring your towel or chair to sit on. Some beach clubs have no minimum, but you must order at least a drink or a meal.

Hola Eduardo, in the evening places like Mandala, and Palazzo are extremely popular. Canibal Royal is a stunning beachfront location which is amazing but can get a little pricey. Or perhaps something like Coco Bongo would work well? Hi Zara, thanks for your article. We are heading to Playa del Carmen tomorrow. Do you recommend any beach clubs close to town that we can reach by taxi? Our priorities are a great beach and secondly great food. Maybe going south, near Xpuha or north Maroma area or closer to town. We are a family with kids and cocktail/alcoholic drinks quality doesn’t concern us. Thank you so much for your time!!

    Hi there,
I am traveling to Playa del Carmen area for the 3rd time in November. My bf and I love Canibal Royal but the last time we were there in 2015 the recent storm had taken most of their beach. On trip advisor, it shows that Canibal Royal is CLOSED. Is this true? I see it on your list and your list seems pretty recent so I wanted to check. Thank you so much! I think we will check out Lido this time around too!

Can we access beach without paying the beach club fee? Can we simply go for a swim, bring our own towels and grab a beer where we want?
Are some beachfront considered ‘private’ and off limits?

Hey Louise, great question. No, if you bring your own towels you are more than welcome to set up shop wherever and whenever you please. Just bear in mind the beach can be quite narrow in parts so wander the coastline and pick your spot wisely 🙂
