Very nice hotel; suited our needs perfectly. Staff is fantastic and very courteous. Pool is very shallow.
Pool area was loud during the day - loud music from the bar, and there was construction going on across the street which was VERY noisy.
We loved the location of this hotel. It was spotless and maintained very well throughout the property. The office staff was very friendly and gave us many suggestions for good restaurants. The breakfast was very moderate but was enough to start our day with fresh juices and home made sweet breads each morning. My only complaint would be around 3:00 everyday the bartender would open the bar (near the pool, on 4th floor) and turn up the stereo full blast. Our room was located on the 4th floor so if we wanted to take a quiet afternoon nap or just enjoy the peaceful surroundings it was not possible(at least from 3 - 6:30pm). Besides that it was always very quiet and enjoyable. I would stay there again inspite of the noise level from the pool area.
The worst thing I can say about our trip was..........heat rash! However, I guess that really isn't your fault. We loved the hotel and the location. We will definitely go back to the Illusion!
The staff was amazing and very hospitable... ALEX, HAVIER AND ELEANA were amazing and made the vacation worth while, I would go back even though there are nicer hotels in the area....my only complaint is closet space not too comfortable other than that LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH AND MIKE'S DIVE SHOP IS THE BEST
Next door to this hotel is a all night disco and music very loud thru the wee hours of the morning. My husband left the room at 3:00am in the morning to complain however the disco was not very accommodating. However, the owner of the hotel did give us that night for free. It's lovely but this is not acceptable.
We were very pleasantly surprised and extremely happy with the accomodations, the location, and especially the staff. We will definetly reccomend to friends who do not require a location right on the beach and are interested in what my wife and I consider to be an european type hotel. We were attracted by your description which was right on and the fact that it was not "all inclusive".
The Illusion Boutique was just fine considering the price. Nice roof deck with views, but there was no bartender at the pool (though we expected one). The staff was very friendly (especially Valentina) and they tried to accommodate as far as they could. (they did not have fresh beach towels for replacement when I tried to exchange) Also, there was a guest in the hotel that screamed every morning and in the early evening and he was never asked to leave. He also was blasting his t.v. at 2am in room 316 and no security guard was present to quiet him down. They should have roaming security at night.
For the first two nights of our 4 nt stay we did not have hot water. There was a problem with the water in the hotel for the first nt and the second nt was just our room. When we complained to reception and said we wanted another room or another hotel the staff memeber said he couldnt do it cause the other room would cost us more money!
Also the brekfast that was included was small pieces of warmed bread with jam and a tiny glass of juice. After 4 days of this i was ready to leave the hotel.
