Behold the list.<\/p>\n<h2>The 8 Best Playa del Carmen Day Trips<\/h2>\n<p>As you can imagine, all of the above provides a lot of great material for day tripping.<\/p>\n<p>So here are some of my favorite tips in no particular order.\u00a0Why&#8217;s that? Because they&#8217;re all good.<\/p>\n<h3>#1 Holbox Island<\/h3>\n<p>Okay. I\u00a0lied.<\/p>\n<p>This place is first on the list. Hands down and eyes closed.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Isla Holbox\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/ann-dabney\/2220394513\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/c2.staticflickr.com\/3\/2062\/2220394513_d5e3c440e7_b.jpg\" alt=\"Holbox Island beach\" width=\"760\" height=\"570\" \/><\/a>A small island in the Gulf of Mexico separated from the mainland by a lagoon, Holbox is a true tropical beauty to behold.<\/p>\n<p>Why I love it?<\/p>\n<p>Almost no cars, white sand streets, cool vibe, and stunning beauty. Did I mention the sunsets? The most spectacular you may ever see!<\/p>\n<h4>What to do?<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.holboxmonkeys.com\/web\/index.php\/en\/transportation\/golf-cart-rentals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Rent a golf cart<\/strong><\/a> or a bicycle and explore the inhabited part of the island from point to point<\/li>\n<li>Take a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vipholbox.com\/excursions\/boat-classic-tour\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Classic Tour<\/strong><\/a> in the morning to visit the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.holboxisland.com\/yalahao-lagoon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Yalahau Spring<\/strong><\/a>, Passion Island, and Bird Island.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Where to Eat?<\/h4>\n<p>Have some fresh ceviche at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Ra%C3%ADces\/211968125632590?fref=ts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Raices<\/strong><\/a> on the beach or lunch at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Restaurant-La-Isla-Del-Colibr%C3%AD-Holbox\/822607221162772?fref=ts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>La Isla del Colibri<\/strong><\/a> right on the corner of the main plaza. For dinner, be sure to check out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/El-Chapulim-Holbox-428649423880833\/?fref=ts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>El Chapulim<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>How to Get There<\/h4>\n<p>Drive, hire private transportation or go by bus to the town of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.holbox.gob.mx\/index.php\/en\/directions-to-holbox\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chiquila<\/a><\/strong>, which is approximately two hours from Playa del Carmen. I do.<\/p>\n<p>Note that this isn&#8217;t a foodie tour, but the lunch service at a <strong>Tulum beach club<\/strong> after the tour hit the spot with chicken, fish, salad, and of course, rice and beans.<\/p>\n<p>However, you&#8217;ll still want to take along some snacks for the road on this one.<\/p>\n<h4>How to Get There<\/h4>\n<p>To visit the Muyil ruins, you&#8217;ll actually take the road to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.playadelcarmen.com\/blog\/cobaruins\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Coba<\/strong><\/a>. From Playa del Carmen, it&#8217;s about an 80-minute trip. You&#8217;ll be glad you did.<\/p>\n<h4>Where to eat?<\/h4>\n<p>You&#8217;ll be treated to a good lunch at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/IslacontoyRiaMaya\/?fref=ts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Ria Maya<\/strong><\/a>, a fantastic local seafood restaurant in Rio Lagartos. Take along some snacks in case you get the munchies during the long journey.<\/p>\n<h4>How to Get There<\/h4>\n<p>Your journey will first take you on a three-hour drive to Rio Lagartos, passing through Valladolid.
