I recommend the tacos filled with stewed chicken in mole, chicken in salsa verde, eggs in salsa roja, or El Arbolito\u2019s most famous:\u00a0<strong><em>chicharr\u00f3n prensado\u00a0<\/em>(pressed pork) and\u00a0<em>lomitos<\/em>\u00a0(pork tenderloin)<\/strong> in a red sauce made from guajillo chiles.<\/p>\n<h3>9.30 &#8211; Tulum Mayan Ruins<\/h3>\n<p><b><i><\/i><\/b>The old city of Tulum (Pre-Columbian Mayan walled city) is nested on 12 meter high cliffs along the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"aligncenter size-thumb_760x570 wp-image-16360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.playadelcarmen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/6928ef092270bca0745c58c8e6a1c87f-tulum-ruins-mayan-ruins-736x570.jpg\" alt=\"Tulum\" width=\"736\" height=\"570\" data-id=\"16360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The former name of the site is Zama, meaning the City of Dawn, which was given for its location facing the sunrise. Tulum was one of the last cities inhabited and built by Mayan people, serving as a major port for Cob\u00e1.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a\u00a0<strong>perfect start to your day<\/strong>. The views are breathtaking, and the beach here is incredible!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Location:<\/strong>\u00a0It\u2019s very easy to find. Just follow the signs, look for \u201cZona Arqueologica\u201d. Look no further. El Camello is FAMOUS for it&#8217;s cheap, fresh, ceviches.\u00a0This is the most celebrated marisqueria in Tulum, some people say it is the best in Mexico!\u00a0?<\/p>\n<h4>2. El Gourmet<\/h4>\n<p>El Gourmet is a small coffee shop run by a sweet local family. Or maybe just a few? I&#8217;ll break down my top three accommodation recommendations in terms of budget so you can find the perfect place to rest your head at night. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><strong>Low budget:\u00a0<\/strong>The best budget hostel in Tulum is called &#8216;Mamas Home&#8217;!<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"aligncenter size-thumb_760x570 wp-image-16376\" src=\"https:\/\/www.playadelcarmen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/mama-760x531.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"760\" height=\"531\" data-id=\"16376\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dorm beds start from <strong>$12, and private rooms from $16.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s centrally located just <strong>three blocks from the bus station<\/strong> and is surrounded by many great restaurants and bars. The perfect place to make new friends and hang out.<\/p>\n<p>Despite being in such a convenient location, it still sits on a quiet street where you can enjoy a peaceful setting after a busy day out on the town.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Medium Budget: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.playadelcarmen.com\/hotels\/dreams-tulum-resort-amp-spa-all-inclusive\">Dreams Tulum<\/a> is the best all-Inclusive resort in Tulum and is reasonably priced.<\/p>\n<p>Only minutes away from the Mayan Ruins you can explore the best the area has to offer,\u00a0 \u00a0the only downfall is that you are not as close to the hotel zone of Tulum or the restaurants or bars.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"aligncenter size-thumb_760x570 wp-image-16378\" src=\"https:\/\/www.playadelcarmen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/61055007-760x570.jpg\" alt=\"Hotels in tulum\" width=\"760\" height=\"570\" data-id=\"16378\" \/><\/p>\n<p>However, the Dreams Tulum offers families, couple, and singles the perfect beachfront setting for the ultimate getaway. You actually have <strong>3 options.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><i>1. ADO Bus.\u00a0<\/i><\/strong>Departs from Playa del Carmen every day you can check the times on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ado.com.mx\">their website <\/a>here.\u00a0\u00a0The price of a one-way ticket is 66 pesos. ADO buses are very comfortable and fast.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"aligncenter size-thumb_760x570 wp-image-16386\" src=\"https:\/\/www.playadelcarmen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/mexico-bus-ado-760x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"760\" height=\"533\" data-id=\"16386\" \/><\/p>\n<p><i><strong>2. Colectivo.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/i>Colectivo \u2013 minivans used by locals to get around within and outside the town. It\u2019s a quick and cheap way to get to the desired destination. It\u2019s less comfortable than ADO buses and doesn\u2019t have AC but is still safe. The Colectivo to Tulum runs every day between 5 am to 10 pm.\u00a0It leaves from Calle 2 between 15th and 20th Avenue every\u00a015 minutes. A one-way ticket will cost you 40 pesos.<\/p>\n<p><strong><i>3. Car.<\/i><\/strong>\u00a0If you prefer to travel without using public transport, as in any country of the world you can rent a car.
