Balamku is located on the Costa Maya, just 5.7 kilometres south of Mahahual, a little fishing village south of Tulum and Cancun on the Caribbean Sea. We’re in the south end of Quintana Roo, approximately 1.5 hours drive from Chetumal, the capital.

Costa Maya is unspoiled by large development and focuses on ecotourism and bio-diversity. With the jungle behind us and the sea at our doorstep, nature envelops Balamku. The coral reef, just meters from our beach, makes adventures with the sea readily available.

Currently, we only provide breakfast and a limited lunch menu. A basket lunch for day trips can be arranged as well. Bar and specialty coffees are available in the afternoon. Breakfasts, included in your daily rate, feature fresh fruits, yogurt, home-made bread, granola, eggs, and our organic coffee and teas. Our clients tell us that they enjoy trying the many different restaurants in and around Mahahual. Two restaurants are walking distance from us. We have coolers for your rooms if you wish to purchase snacks and beverages in town.

At Balamku, you will want to relax and be with the beauty of nature. There are countless varieties of birds (orioles, jays, flycatchers, hummingbirds and sea birds, especially) many butterflies and interesting iguanas to observe as you walk/hike in our area.

• Massage in your room or on the beach (full spa facility located 10 minutes from Balamku)
• Scuba Diving and Snorkelling at Chinchorro, the largest atoll in Mexico and home to hundreds of fish, seabirds. This exceptional day trip to Chinchorro Biosphere Reserve, is considered an ecotourist's paradise. Lunch on the atoll with the fishermen can be arranged.
• You can also learn to dive and do coastal dives. There are a few dive shops in Mahahual to choose from for both coastal diving and Chinchorro.
• Snorkel on the best locations along the coast with trained guides.

Local fishermen will take you out for a full day of deep sea fishing. The best is at Chinchorro.

Horseback riding can be arranged in town.

Other day trips include a small local animal reserve, different beaches and the fresh water laguna at Bacalar.

There are also many day excursions from Balamku like City Tours, Adventure Excursions and Mayan Archaeological Sites.
