Hotels & Places to Stay
Some of you are seasoned Playa Pro’s who already found your “home away from home” in Playa del Carmen. For those of you planning your vacation to Playa del Carmen and the Mayan Riviera, here are a few of the different types of places to stay.
1. All Inclusive Resorts
Do you want all your food & drink provided without having to worry about extra cost? Are you a big eater or big drinker? (Don’t worry, we don’t judge – you are on vacation!) Then an all inclusive resort may be just right for you.
Upon check in you are provided with an all inclusive bracelet which allows for your food and drink while in the hotel. Sometimes there are supplements for more expensive items such as lobster meals and premium brand drinks, but this information will be provided to you.
In addition, depending on the size of the resort, all inclusive also means daytime activities and nightly entertainment. Some resorts may even have a spa on site, sports facilities, kid’s clubs and disco’s.
Pre-packaged vacations with all inclusive resorts are often less expensive than one might think….

2. Not quite All Inclusive
Some resorts offer a sort of part all inclusive such as a breakfast and dinner plan. This covers most of your daily meals and then you can decide where to have lunch outside the resort and how many drinks you will consume.
3. Condo Hotels
Really want a home away from home? Condo hotels have at least a kitchenette if not a full kitchen and allow you to cook for yourselves. This is also a good option if you like to eat in restaurants a lot. Save by not taking the all inclusive, and then dine around the world in a different restaurant every night.

4. Luxury Hotels
Are you celebrating something special and want to go all out? If you are looking for a luxury getaway, there are many options in the Riviera Maya. Some are all inclusive, some not. Consult our list of the top 10 luxury resorts.
5. Boutique Hotels
Like the feel of a small but chic hotel? Look no further than the boutique hotels available in Playa and throughout the Riviera Maya.

6. Inns (Posadas)
A more budget friendly option, you can find posadas all over Playa del Carmen.
7. Bed & Breakfast
There are no bed and breakfasts in the traditional sense that you will sleep in someone’s home. Many of the posada’s, boutique hotels and even hostels, will include your breakfast.
8. Cabañas
There really aren’t any Cabaña type accommodation in Playa del Carmen, however, you will find many of these in the Tulum area. Check out our list of Cabañas in Tulum.

9. Camping
There are no camp sites in Playa del Carmen. If camping is your thing, you may want to head to Xpu Ha, Puerto Morelos or Tulum.
10. Hostels
